Mondo has a print currently for sale of the 1986 cult classic film Troma The toxic avenger. This is one of those crazy movies that you have to experience for yourself. It’s complete madness!
The poster was created by artist James Bousema, who said: “THE TOXIC AVENGER has a truly special balance between cheesy comedy and heartfelt heroism.
“When I was given the opportunity to design this poster, I approached it with this balance in mind. Silly in nature, but posed like a pulp fantasy poster. All sludge and toxic muscle.”
Art director Josh Manderville added: “James has put the same love and care into this unlikely New Jersey hero as he has for so many of his apocalyptic, hellish metal album covers.
“As the first cult horror film that permanently impacted me as a child, I couldn’t have been more thrilled to have James on this poster. I can already smell the hydrogen sulfide fumes coming out of it!”
If you want a print, click here. It will cost you $80.
THE Toxic avenger is a horror comedy that tells the story of Melvin Ferd, a nerdy and socially awkward janitor who works at a health club in the fictional town of Tromaville.
After being bullied mercilessly by gym-goers, Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste, which disfigures him but also gives him superhuman strength and powers. He transforms into the Toxic Avenger, a grotesque but heroic figure who sets out to rid Tromaville of corruption and crime, using his new abilities to brutally punish wrongdoers.
The film is a mix of over-the-top violence, dark humor and campy comedy and is a unique and absurd take on the superhero genre.
