The story is set in the fictional city of Kamurocho, and takes place across two intersecting timelines: 1995 and 2005.
This Japanese action drama series delves into the dark underworld of the yakuza, exploring the universal theme of family not only through bloodline but also through the bonds between yakuza bosses and their underlings, orphans and their guardians, as well as mentors and students.
These relationships are characterized by deep affection at times and intense conflict at other times, all intricately intertwined.

“The series depicts the lives of ferocious but passionate gangsters and people living in a huge entertainment district, Kamurochō, a fictional neighborhood modeled after the violent Kabukichō neighborhood of Shinjuku, which serves as the backdrop for the gameplay.
“Like a Dragon: Yakuza showcases modern Japan and the dramatic stories of these intense characters, like the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, that past games haven’t been able to explore.”
