Marvel Star Sebastian Stan Talks Robert Downey Jr.’s Return as Doctor Doom and His Love for the MCU

Sebastiano Stan he joined the MCU in 2011 in the first Captain America film, The First Avenger. He played Steve Rogers’ best friend Bucky Barnes, who we saw evolve into the Winter Soldier along the way.

From Avengers: EndgameBucky appeared in the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as well as What if…?and will return to the big screen next year Lightning*. Some fans have speculated that this could be the end of the road for Bucky Barnes, but Stan is evaluating the future of the MCU and hopes to be a part of it, along with the return of Robert Downey Jr..

During a recent interview with GQ, Stan expressed hopes of sharing a scene or two with Downey, and praised his co-star, saying:

“I hope to be in a scene with him. Is there any other guy who could do it? I don’t know, probably not. After Tropic Thunder, is there anything that guy can’t do?”

Stan also praised Marvel and defended the company in light of the criticism it has received in recent years from big-name directors.

“I’ve never been part of a company that puts so much heart and thought into something. I think if Marvel left, it would be such a big hole to try to fill. Don’t go out there and shit on something without offering something better.”

Stan is a dedicated and loyal actor who has delivered one great performance after another. I can’t wait to see him come in Lightning* in theaters May 2, 2025, and hopefully in more Marvel films in the future.
