Director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle Creation, Shazam) was busy producing the film adaptation of the hit horror video game Until dawnand filming wrapped over the weekend.

The director shared a photo from the set on social media with the following caption: “We resisted until dawn. This is the conclusion of #UntilDawnMovie.”

As a fan of the game, I couldn’t wait to see this movie. I’m just happy to see Sandberg return to horror and this will be a great project for him to take on.

Movie stars Ella Rubin (The idea of you), Michele Cimino (I’ve never done it), Ji-young Yoo (expatriates) AND Odessa A’zion (From Hulu Hellraiser). Pietro Stormare (Clowns, John Wick 2) will reprise his role from the video game Until Dawn, while Maia Mitchell AND Belmont Camelli will also appear in the film.

The film was written by Blair Butler (The invitation) and Gary Dauberman (Salem’s Lot) worked on the screenplay. The film is said to be “an R-rated love letter to the horror genre.”

Sandberg previously said: “I longed to make horror films again Lights off AND Annabelle: Creationand this film explores the many great subgenres of horror to create the most terrifying experience possible.

“Capturing the essence of the game but with new characters, it makes for a fantastic introduction to the world for the newcomer, as well as offering something new that fans of the game will enjoy.”

The story of the 2015 game is set one year after the death and disappearance of twin sisters Hannah and Beth, when eight friends return to the mountain cabin belonging to the parents of their friend Josh, brother of the missing sisters.

Shortly after arriving, the friends realize that they may not be the only people on this mountain. What follows is a fun and disturbing mystery story involving a mysterious killer and cannibalistic Wendigos.
