Ewan McGregor says Lucasfilm is ‘exploring’ ideas for OBI-WAN KENOBI season 2

Ewan McGregor recently appeared at Los Angeles Comic-Con and took part in a panel and Q&A with fans. During the event, McGregor confirmed that Lucasfilm is now “exploring” new ideas for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2.

McGregor went on to say that he wants to don Obi-Wan’s armor from Clone Wars and reunite with Hayden Christensen for some flashback scenes. As you can imagine, fans were insanely excited at the prospect of this happening.

Since the Obi-Wan Kenobi series ended, McGregor has been very vocal about wanting to continue with a second season that will tell another adventurous story for the fan-favorite character.

McGregor said: “I loved, more than anything, meeting him Alec Guinness’ job because I played him when I was young. Even now, with the series, this is my personal challenge: if a shot looks a little like him, I’m happy.

He added: “I really hope we get a chance to do another one. Between the end of the series and the time Alec Guinness appears on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there are more stories to tell.”

While McGregor continues to push for a second season, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has said multiple times that there are no plans for a second season. THE Obi-Wan Kenobi the series was originally not supposed to go beyond one season, but that could change.

I wasn’t a fan of Obi-Wan Kenobi series with its weak story, script, and character development, and I think it was a missed opportunity to tell something truly incredible Star Wars history.

Obi-Wan Kenobi it was originally planned as a trilogy and the plans for the movie actually looked much better than what the series ended up being. You can read all about those original plans here and here.

If Lucasfilm moved forward with a second season of Obi-Wan KenobiI hope they learn from their season 1 mistakes.
