Reachable Star Alan Ritchson is set to lead the cast of the film adaptation of Nicola Scintille’new bestselling novel Count miracleswhich is installed at Amazon MGM Studios.
In the story, “the former Ranger (Ritchson) returns to his small hometown with a mission: to find the father he never knew. While there, he meets a doctor who is trying to balance her life as a single mother with two children and a lonely old man with a mysterious past, leading him to unexpected connections and a journey to belonging.
Ritchson talked about joining the project on his Instagram account and how The notebook it was a film that inspired him.
The actor said: “As a way to help me stay the course, my girlfriend at the time [Cat Ritchson] (now wife) would take time off from work for her degree [University of Florida] every few weeks to pay a visit.
“It always put a lot of wind in my sails. She believed in me long before I did. During one of his stays, he wanted to watch The Pages of Our Lives. So we spent a night renting the DVD and getting some snacks. A chick flick night. I thought I was doing you a favor. Brownie tips galore.
“Long story short, she fell asleep long before the end. I do not. I was crying so hard, for so long, at that perfect depiction of a long, troubled, but unshakable love that even the DVD screen saver that bounced on the screen after the credits to keep the images from burning on the TV was over .
“The longing I felt for the first time that night for a kind of lasting love for a Notebook has been a compass I return to when I get distracted or lose my way (as we all do from time to time). It also showed me how valuable the mediums of television and film can be if done right.”
Here is the full description of the book:
“Tanner Hughes was raised by his grandparents, following in his grandfather’s military footsteps to become an Army Ranger. He’s spent his whole life abroad, and he’s the proverbial rolling stone… happiest when he goes off on his next adventure, zero desire to settle down.
“But when his grandmother dies, her last words to him are: find your place. She also drops a bombshell, telling him the name of the father he never knew and where he might be found.
“Tanner is due on his next assignment soon, but his curiosity is piqued and he heads off to Asheboro, North Carolina to ask around. He’s been in town less than 24 hours when he meets Kaitlyn Cooper, a doctor and single mom.
“They both feel an immediate connection; Tanner knows Kaitlyn has a story to tell and wants to hear it. To Kaitlyn, Tanner is mysterious, exciting, and maybe gone in a few weeks.
“Meanwhile, nearby, Jasper, 83, lives alone in a cabin bordering a state forest. With only his old dog Arlo for company, he lives quietly, haunted by a tragic accident that occurred decades earlier.
“When he hears rumors that a white deer has been spotted in the forest – a legendary creature that inspired his father and grandfather – he becomes obsessed with protecting the deer from poachers.
“As these characters’ destinies orbit ever closer, none of them expect a miracle… but this may be what changes their future forever.”
It seems like the perfect role for Ritchson and I’m sure he’ll be great in the film.
