It seems Sam Raimi will return to acting in the Marvel movie sandbox as the director reportedly returns to directing Doctor Strange 3.
The news comes from Hollywood insider Jeff Sneiderwho states that Raimi will “definitely” return to direct the film and that the deal is “almost closed”.
I love that Raimi is returning to direct another Doctor Strange movie! I like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and I’m excited to see Raimi once again bring his signature style to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Raimi said he had a good experience working with Marvel and that he would be willing to return. For the past two years there have been rumors that Raimi is in talks Spider-Man 4 AND Avengers: Secret Warsbut it looks like he’ll be back for a new Doctor Strange story.
Multiverse of madness ended with a pretty emotional setup for a third film, and saw Strange walking through New York where he suddenly collapsed in the middle of the street and screamed as a third eye opened in the middle of his forehead.
Then, in the mid-credits scene, Strange is approached by Clea (Charlize Theron), who is her future love interest and she enlists him to help her solve the multiversal incursion she accidentally started at the beginning of the film.
As a longtime Raimi fan, this is great news! Raimi also recently signed on to direct and produce the remote island thriller Send help for 20th Century Studies. If this news about Doctor Strange is true, I imagine he’ll start working on it next Send help.
