Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a trailer for a new Spaceship soldiers Titled VR game Starship Troopers: Continuum.
Casper Van Dien he reprized his role as Johnny Rico in the game, which is set 25 years after the Battle of Klendathu in the original film.
In the game, “The war between the Federation and the Arachnids is at a standstill, but the planet Janus-4 hides a secret that threatens to tip the balance of the war; The Continuo.”
Players take on the role of a PsyCommander, “an ‘experiment’ with advanced psychic powers including: controlling soldiers, leveling them up and trying to keep them alive; promote them to citizenship for big bonuses and advance your powers faster; and add psychic advantages to build your perfect soldier. The game features three-player online team combat.
Senior Vice President of Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures Entertainment Lance Sloane said in a statement: “We are thrilled to work with XR Games to bring ‘Starship Troopers: Continuum’ to life in VR.
“The energy, atmosphere and action of Starship Troopers is perfect to experience in virtual reality. We can’t wait for fans to battle bugs and fully immerse themselves in the world of ‘Starship Troopers’ in VR for the first time.”
XR Games founder and CEO Bobby Thandi added: “We couldn’t be more excited to once again work with Sony Pictures to bring the legendary ‘Starship Troopers’ franchise to VR.
“By jumping right into the action like never before, players will have the chance to become a soldier, fight bugs and experience the ‘Starship Troopers’ universe in a whole new way.”
Starship Troopers: Continuum will launch on Meta Quest 2 and 3 on October 17th and on PlayStation VR2 on October 31st.
