Drafthouse Film has released a new trailer for the 4K re-release of Corey Feldmanthe cult classic film The birthday. If you’ve never seen this movie, it’s worth watching and Feldman gives a really great and entertaining performance!
The film was directed by Eugenio Miraand is described as “wickedly thrilling, darkly hilarious”. The film celebrates its twentieth anniversary. The film was never released in the United States, so Drafthouse will host screenings of the 4K version this fall.
“All is not as it seems in the old Royal Fulton Hotel. Norman Forrester, played brilliantly in a breakthrough performance by Corey Feldman, will finally meet his girlfriend’s family at her father’s lavish birthday party.
“But what was supposed to be a major breakthrough in their relationship doesn’t go exactly as planned; he’s not on the guest list, his girlfriend ignores him and his father doesn’t like him at all.
“Rejected and heartbroken, Norman walks away from the party, only to discover something far more sinister than his girlfriend’s family lurking in the troubled bowels of the troubled hotel: an ancient evil that threatens to bring about the end of the world. “
The film is hailed as “a cinematic marvel” by the director Jordan Peele. This is one of those movies where after watching it you wonder why the hell Feldman didn’t stick to acting! He’s such a fun actor!
Drafthouse Films will debut The birthday on October 11, 2024.
