Marco Millar he told some big, incredible stories at Marvel Comics, and much of his work helped shape what we saw in the MCU. He worked on The Ultimates and Civil War, both of which were huge inspirations for films like The Avengers and Captain America: Civil War.
In recent years, Millar has focused on his Millarworld comics and his deal with Netflix. A couple of years ago he teased a new Superman story and said he had talked to DC Comics about a six-part series. But it looks like he’s putting that story on hold and looking to return to Marvel for something huge.
During an interview with wordballoon, he is told: “I actually met CB Cebulski [Marvel Editor-In-Chief] for lunch last week in London. He was in London visiting the Fantastic Four [currently filming west of London]and texted me.”
He continued: “Marvel and DC had both made me an open offer years ago and every year they would contact me and ask: do you want to do something? I had an idea when I was in Dubai last year… This Superman story came to mind: the beginning, middle and end of the whole thing.
“I talked about it on Twitter a few days later, and Marie Javins [DC Editor-In-Chief] I reached out and said, ‘If you want to do this, do it.'”
Millar now plans to wait until Superman enters the public domain before telling that story and will instead focus his attention and focus on this potentially game-changing Marvel Comics project. At least that’s how they advertise it!
He explained: “I told CB, I only want to do something at Marvel if I can make it bigger than Civil War, otherwise what’s the point? I’m not going to go in and do an Iceman series or something.
“I just want to come in and do something that’s bigger than Civil War, and what I have is way bigger than Civil War, and Civil War is the best-selling graphic novel that Marvel has ever had.
“The greatest in history. I said this is the only thing that could top him and I didn’t tell him what it is. I’m holding back.”
Well, this definitely piqued my curiosity! It will be interesting to see what’s going on in his brain once he’s ready to make an official announcement and reveal the details.
