It’s pretty crazy that after all these years Hugh Jackmann played Wolverine, he never wore the classic blue and yellow suit until Deadpool and Wolverine. After over 20 years of playing this badass character, fans finally got to see him in action in costume and it was glorious!
Jackman recalled in a new video on Instagram how wearing that costume for the first time brought him closer to the character.
The clip begins with Ryan Reynolds talking about how Jackman sent him and the other writers a “10-minute voice memo” explaining how this Wolverine is supposed to be the “worst Wolverine.”
Then, regarding Wolverine’s costume, Jackman said: “When I put on the yellow and blue shirt, I immediately knew it would work. It was fantastic. I felt more grounded, deeper, connected than I had ever felt before in 24 years.
He went on to say, “I was amazed that we never rehearsed it and never looked at it, but when I see it, particularly with that hood, I feel more than ever before me, Hugh Jackman, lost, gone. It’s just Wolverine.”
Fans were so happy to finally see Jackman in costume and I’m sure it won’t be the last time we see him. Marvel has plans for Jackman’s Wolverine in the future, we just don’t know what that future will look like.
There are rumors that Jackman will return as Wolverine in Avengers: Secret Wars, but we’ll just have to wait and see if that’s actually true.
Deadpool and Wolverine will be released via digital download on October 1st, and the Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD release will follow on October 22nd. The film is also likely to become available for streaming with a Disney+ subscription sometime later this year. is over or early 2025.
