A few months ago, Mel Gibson he confirmed that he will direct Lethal weapon 5taking over from Richard Donner who died while the film was in development. He is also working on the sequel to Passion of Christ.
When asked about these two films during a recent interview with CB, Gibson said: “I don’t know, and that’s the funny thing. I mean, there are various obstacles to making a film work, and not just budget , but there’s like, there’s 1,000,001 reasons why something works and why it doesn’t.
“So at this point it’s really kind of a gamble about what goes first and what came first, whether it’s the chicken or the egg.”
So, it looks like both projects are still very much up in the air. But it looks like Gibson still plans to direct both.
When we spoke previously Lethal weaponGibson spoke about the screenplay development process, which Donner began before his passing. “He managed to write the script well and we used what was there. We kept trying, working on it and I’m quite happy with it, it’s good, I had a lot of fun doing it.” .”
Gibson had previously said that the film had “a really good script” and “they had a really good model.” He also said, “I had the honor of sitting down, after Richard’s death, with the writer and doing a couple more drafts and trying to do it in the spirit of what we thought Donner might have done.” [want] because I knew that boy so well. Gibson recently directed the Mark Wahlberg thriller Flight plan and stars in the family adventure horror film The summer of monsters.
