It was announced last week Joe Manganiello will take on the role of Mr. 0, also known as Sir Crocodile, the “King of the Desert,” in the Netflix live-action seriesOne piece series.
Manganiello recently spoke about the character and began by revealing the research he’s done by saying he has “tables and shelves full of all these different versions of Crocodile to look at” as he “looks through the material.”
The actor goes on to say that he’s trying to make Crocodile feel “real,” which involves understanding the “different intentions” and “different path” he has compared to some of the other characters.
Manganiello then shared what he thinks makes the villainous character so interesting, saying, “But what I’ve discovered is potentially the downside of Luffy.
“It represents this dark potential future for Luffy if he gets affected by it or if he allows the trauma of defeat to infect him like it did for me.
“And I think there’s a part of Crocodile that wants everyone to suffer like he suffered after Whitebeard, or with the disappointment of not becoming the Pirate King and letting all that go. And of course, don’t trust your friends.
Manganiello’s Mr. 0 will play a key role next season and beyond. He is a former warlord of the sea and the main antagonist of the Alabasta Arc in One piece. He is the leader of the secret criminal organization Byzantine Works and operates under the alias “Mr. 0”.
His goal is to conquer the desert kingdom of Alabasta by instigating civil war and taking control of its ancient weapon, Pluto.”
The crocodile possesses the powers of the Suna Suna no Mi, a Logia-type devil fruit that allows him to manipulate it and turn into sand. Crocodile is ruthless and known for his cold, strategic mind and lack of compassion, seeking power at all costs.
In the series, “Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer who has wanted a life of freedom for as long as he can remember. Luffy sets out from his small village on a dangerous journey in search of the legendary treasure, One Piece, to become the Pirate King!
“But to find the ultimate prize, Luffy will have to assemble the crew he’s always wanted before finding a ship to set sail, scouring every inch of the vast seas, outmaneuvering Marines, and defeating dangerous rivals at every turn.”
The series is the protagonist Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu in the role of Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Ilia Isorelys Paulino like Alvida, Jeff Ward like Buggy and Michael Dormann as Gold Roger.
They are united by Katey Sagal (Married with children, children of anarchy) as Doctor Kureha, Marco Harelik (Presumed innocent) as Doctor Hiriluk, Brendan Sean Murray in the role of Brogy, Callum Kerr in the role of Smoker, Camrus Johnson like Mr. 5, Clive Russell in the role of Crocus, Daniel Lasker like Mr. 9, David Dastmalchian like Mr. 3, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Giulia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti in the role of Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, Werner Coetser like Dorry, and Lera Anova as Miss All Sunday, aka Nico Robin.
