Netflix has released the trailer for the acclaimed documentary about gamers The Extraordinary Life of IbelinThe film tells the touching and inspiring story of Mats Steena Norwegian gamer, who died from a degenerative muscle disease at the young age of 25.

Little did they know that Mats had long led a vibrant digital life that had left a profound impact on a community of gamers.
“The film takes us on a journey through the wide range of Mats Steen’s adventurous online life, introducing us to Ibelin, his charismatic World of Warcraft character.
“Through reconstructed animated moments of his gameplay, narrated entries from his blog, and interviews with people who knew him as Ibelin, a picture emerges of an extraordinary young man, one that underscores how community and deep relationships can transcend the confines of the physical world.”
It sounds like an inspiring and optimistic story and it sounds like a movie worth watching. It premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in January, where it won the Directing Award and the Audience Award.
