Actor Wesley Snipe has had a great career with many interesting roles in movies and TV. Some may not remember that one of his first jobs was as a character named Mini Max in Michela JacksonMusic video “Bad” by .
He became friends with Jackson during the filming, who didn’t even realize Snipes was an actor. He thought he was just some guy off the street who was hired to act in the video. The two stayed in touch, and Jackson became as big a fan of Snipes as the actor was of him.
Years later, when Snipes was working on his super-antihero sequel film, Blade IIHe had heard about it from his old friend, the King of Pop Michael Jackson, and wanted to join the action, literally.
In a 2017 Billboard article that took an in-depth look at Michael Jackson’s Top 5 Hits, Snipes recounted when he got the call from Jackson:
“I had some interesting conversations with Michael, the great master Michael. Michael asked me if he could be in Blade II. The great Michael wanted to be in one of the Lama movie, to be tough. I was like, ‘Mike, which one are you going to do? Do you want to play one of the vampires?’
He was like, ‘No! I want to be like Blade’s friend, I want to fight you!’ I said, ‘Oh Mike, you have some jokes.’ He was like, ‘No, I’m serious!’ It’s very hard to imagine how people would have seen Michael Jackson in Lama movie. I don’t know. [Laughs.]”
Yeah, it wouldn’t have worked. It’s fun to think about, though. Blade II came out over two decades ago and Snipes went on to make a third film, Blade: Trinity two years later.
We thought that would be the last time we would see him in the role, until this summer, when he reprised the part in Deadpool and WolverineHe looked amazing and fans were excited to see him.
More than five years ago, Marvel announced that it would reboot the franchise with the actor Mahershala Alibut the project went through screenwriters and directors, but was never completed.
So Snipes, as well as fans and Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, said that maybe everyone could get back on board with the original actor returning to play the role.
Nothing official has been released, but you know they have to take that into consideration! With the fan enthusiasm waning over the last couple of years, they have to take into account what fans are going to show up to see. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
