Disney Animation Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee Steps Down to Focus on Next Two FROZEN Sequels

Creative Director of Disney Animation Jennifer Lee is ready to step away from the executive role and get back to being creative. She is stepping down from her role as CCO of the studio so she can devote her full attention and focus to writing and directing Frozen 3 AND Frozen 4.

It will be replaced by Dr. Jared Bushwho won an Oscar for Enchantment and is also one of the authors and executive producers of Oceania 2.

Lee is writing and directing the next two Frozen films starring Marc Smith and there’s no doubt they’ll be huge hits for the studio.

Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman said in a statement: “Jared Bush is an incredible filmmaker and talented executive who has been a leading creative force at Disney Animation for the past decade, and I am thrilled he will take the reins of this historic studio.

“I would also like to thank Jennifer Lee for her passionate leadership of the studio over the past several years, she has left an indelible mark on both Disney Animation and the industry. I know she has so many stories left to tell, and there is truly no one better suited to oversee the continuation of the beloved Frozen story.”

Lee, who worked on the first two Frozen films, said: “I am so grateful to Bob and Alan for supporting my decision to return to filmmaking full time. I have always believed in Jared’s incredible talent and I can’t wait to see what he brings to the role of CCO with his passion and dedication to animation.”

Bush added: “I am deeply grateful to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman for their confidence in me, and grateful to Jennifer for her leadership and generous support as I embark on the next chapters of Frozen.

“I am incredibly excited to work with all of our filmmakers, artists and Disney Animation team members as we shape the future of this legendary studio together.”
