Marvel fans have been asking for years: has Scarlet Witch really gone from the Marvel cinema universe? Now, Wandavision director Matt Shakman He is weighing and his answer could give fans hope Elizabeth Olsenreturn.
Shakman recently spoke with Screenrant of Wanda Maximoff’s fate after his apparent death Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While the Marvel Studios kept silent about what is the next for the character, Shakman has left a very interesting comment.
When he was asked if he believes Scarlet Witch is truly dead, Shakman simply said: “Wanda has never gone”.
That short statement will undoubtedly be the fuel that we have not seen Wanda’s latest Maximoff in the MCU. The representation of Olsen of the complex and tragic hero made it one of the most loved characters in the Marvel roster, so a return would be a big problem for fans.
Olsen previously had shared what she likes to see for the future of Scarlet Witch, saying:
“You know, when I think about the version of my dreams [of Wanda]They are like 50 years later, and I have white hair – a large, huge white wig – and the face of the wrinkles that did as a tracy ullman thing. And they are just like a creature they find. And that’s how I imagine Wanda’s next trip. “
In addition to discussing Wanda, Shakman has also reflected on how his experience directing Wandavision compared to his current Marvel project, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Both projects, according to him, have allowed creative freedom in tone and style.
“They are both so joyful. I think of these two as the highlights of my director’s career,” Shakman said. “Working on Wandavision was fantastic. That world, the cast is incredible. Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Kathryn Hahn(everyone).
“We had fun so much, and it was very specific and we had many tests before starting, because I wanted everyone to understand the realities, the tone and the style of the sitcom in which we were.”
He continued to explain how that meticulous approach was brought The Fantastic Four: First Steps:
“It was similar here (The Fantastic Four: First Steps). We had three weeks of rehearsals before starting to travel, because we were building a very specific world.
“We had to build a family that seemed to live, that seemed real, and we had to build this world of the 60s who had consistency in terms of aesthetics, but also style, tone and how you approach the film.
“So, both were stylistic and toned experiments, which I love doing as a director. (They are) very different, but [there were] Some lessons learned between the two. “
Shakman’s comments are exciting for two reasons: first of all, he suggests that Wanda Maximoff could still have a future in the MCU and, secondly, shows how much passion is leading to the first Marvel family.
If Scarlet Witch does or not, his great return remains a mystery, but Shakman’s words have certainly rekindled hope for fans.
Would you like to see Elizabeth Olsen return like Scarlet Witch? And what are your expectations for the Fantastic Four?
