Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming romantic drama Lonely Planetwhich has as protagonists Laura Dern AND Liam Hemsworth.
The film centers on a reclusive writer who “arrives at a prestigious writers’ retreat in Morocco, hoping the remote setting will unlock her writer’s block.
“While there, she meets a young man: what begins as an acquaintance turns into an intoxicating and life-changing romance.”
Speaking previously about the film, Dern said that the film is about “exploring identity and self-worth within relationships, especially in an intellectually charged world like literature.”
“The dynamic between the young man and the older, more established writer intrigued me because it’s not just about romance, it’s about finding someone who really sees you and understands you, which is something deeply human and relatable.”
Speaking about her co-star Hemsworth, Dern added: “He became not only a friend and confidant during our Moroccan adventure, but also our shared desire [for] honesty and intimacy in all relationships have touched me greatly.
“We had such a good connection, so telling this story together meant the world… and he’s incredibly funny, so I was laughing the whole time.”
The supporting cast includes Diana Silvers (Space Force), Ben Youcef (Fear), Beautiful Logan (Royal Palm), Gustav Dyekjaer Giese (The silent ones) AND Dillon Lane (The culprit).
Lonely Planet will be released on Netflix on October 11. Watch the trailer below.
