Director Mike Flanagan announced that there is a new version of his horror film Silence coming soon. It’s a version of the film that was how the director originally envisioned it.
This new version of Silence It will be a black and white, almost silent shot, which will be really interesting and spectacular to watch.
Flanagan shared the news on X, saying, “The black-and-white image really ratchets up the tension, and the new audio mix, almost entirely devoid of music, is absolutely immersive.
“THIS is how we originally envisioned the film. The ‘Shush Cut’ of HUSH debuts 9/27 courtesy of [Beyond Fest]and we are honored to be part of such an extraordinary formation!”
Hush follows Maddie Young (played by Kate Siegel), a deaf and mute writer who lives in an isolated house in the woods. Maddie lost her hearing and the ability to speak after a bout of meningitis when she was 13.
He leads a quiet life, working on his novels in solitude, until his peaceful existence is shattered one night by a masked intruder.
The story unfolds when the masked man discovers Maddie’s disability and sees it as an advantage in his cruel game. Initially unaware of the danger outside, Maddie soon realizes she is being stalked. With no way to call for help and her house surrounded, she is forced into a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Maddie uses her other senses and quick reflexes to react, determined to survive the night despite enormous odds.
This is a great film that relies heavily on visual storytelling and I can’t wait to see this new version.
The film will be released on home video in the United States on September 5th and will include the ‘Shush Cut’ version as part of the collector’s edition.
