It looks like we’re getting a live-action adaptation of the hit manga/anime Bleachand Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly developing a film.
This was reported by Hollywood insider DanielRPK, who also points out that the studio is currently looking for a screenwriter and a director to take on the project.
It was only a matter of time before a major Hollywood studio attempted to make a live-action film Bleach film, and it will be interesting to see what direction they take based on the talent they bring on board to develop it.
This would be the latest in a wave of Shonen Jump franchises moving forward with their own Hollywood productions as Naruto, A piece AND The Man Who Strikes.
Bleach follows the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager with the ability to see ghosts. His life changes when he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper tasked with guiding souls to the afterlife and defending the world of the living from evil spirits called Hollows.
After Rukia is injured in battle, she transfers her powers to Ichigo, thrusting him into the role of a substitute Soul Reaper. Ichigo must now balance his human life with his new responsibilities, learning to fight powerful Hollows and protect his friends and family from supernatural threats.
As the story progresses, Ichigo and his companions discover a vast world of Soul Reapers, including complex political hierarchies and ancient rivalries within Soul Society.
The story expands to introduce several enemies, such as the Arrancar and the treacherous former Soul Reaper, Sosuke Aizen. Over the course of the series, Ichigo’s strength grows as he faces increasingly dangerous opponents and delves into the mysteries of his own heritage, including his connection to powerful beings beyond the world of the living.
