HBO has released a fun trailer for its upcoming Max TV series The franchisea comedy set in the chaotic world of superhero movies.

This is a great concept that looks set to be a very entertaining and enjoyable series to watch. The story follows “the crew of an unloved film franchise struggling to find their place in a wild and unruly cinematic universe.”

The comedy series is explained to “shine a light on the secret chaos within the world of superhero movies, to ask the question: How exactly is the cinematic sausage made? Because every f*ck-up has an origin story.”

The franchiseThe cast includes My Patel like Daniel, Aya Cash like Anita, Jessica Hynes like Steph, Billy Magnussen like Adam, Adefope lollipop like Dag, Darren Goldstein like Pat, and Isaac Powell like Bryson. Recurring guest stars include Richard E. Grant like Peter and Daniel Bruhl like Eric.

The pilot episode of the series was directed by Sam Mendes and written by Jon Brown, who serves as showrunner.

In an interview with IndieWire, Magnussen said, “The gift was that I could laugh at all this shit that we do. Like people with big egos who are like, ‘Oh, they’re superstars.’ It’s a TV show about making a superhero movie, and it’s all just a bunch of idiots running the show and you can laugh.”

Speaking about his famous co-stars, the actor added, “The ensemble was everything. The community I worked with on that TV show was a gift for which I couldn’t be more grateful.

“It’s about people, because so much of this industry takes itself too seriously, and this show reminds me that you can have fun and laugh at yourself, and that’s what we did.”

The series will debut on Max on October 6.
