Chris Pratt almost starred in Peacock’s remake of Field of Dreams

A couple of years ago, Peacock was looking to produce a series remake of the classic 1989 baseball movie about Kevin Costner The Man of Dreamswhat we didn’t know is that Chris Pratt was actually intended to act. This has never been reported.

This report was written by Puck’s Lesley Goldberg, in an article for Puck titled “The Best and Worst Deals of TV’s Golden Age,” and explains that Pratt “abruptly” left the project.

The series was developed by Mike Schurwho has previously worked on shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The good placeAND Parks and recreationHe wanted to shoot some parts of the show at Fenway Park.

Lisa Katzpresident of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming said at the time: “Over the years, The Man of Dreams It has remained a fan favorite, maintaining its rightful place in the zeitgeist.

“It’s whimsical and down-to-earth, a space where Mike Schur excels, and we can’t wait to bring a new version of this classic to Peacock.”

The series was set to begin filming in Iowa in the summer of 2022 and was expected to “reimagine the mix of family, baseball, Iowa and magic that makes the film so enduring and beloved.”

Then, suddenly, the series was no longer being picked up and Universal Television tried to pitch the project to other networks and streaming services, but nothing came of it.

According to the new report, Pratt wasn’t the only reason the project fell through, as Schur also left the series at one point. Someone named Bill Hell was chosen to replace him on the show, but was a newcomer to the industry and was “deemed insufficient” to support the show’s $15 million per episode budget.

There’s no shared information about why Pratt ultimately left the project, but I think he would have been great as Ray Kinsella! I might have even liked him in the role, and this could have been a decent series. But the movie is such a classic, it’s one of my all-time favorites, and I’m okay with the series not happening.

The film tells the story of a farmer, Ray Kinsella, who hears a voice encouraging him to build a baseball field in his family’s cornfield, which attracts the spirits of deceased baseball players. However, the purpose of the field is broader than simply watching old baseball players return to play.
