Quentin Tarantino Says His R-Rated STAR TREK Movie ‘Will Never Happen’

There was a point in Quentin Tarantinohis film career a few years ago, when he was developing an R-rated film The History of Star Trek film for Paramount Pictures. This would have been an R-rated The History of Star Trek project, which would have been very interesting.

It would have been a lot of fun to see what Tarantino would have done with the The History of Star Trek franchise, especially with its unique cinematic style, but it wasn’t meant to be.

We already know that the project has been shelved, but the director was recently asked about it while appearing on Bill Maher’s podcast and confirmed that the film will never be made and that nothing that has been leaked about it is true.

Tarantino said: “It’s never going to happen. There’s been so much misinformation about what it was going to be, nothing but misinformation. I live in a special zone and part of my zone is because I’m not on Instagram and Facebook, I’m not creating this constant dialogue with the world about what’s going on in my life.”

“So if you’re Joe Schlomoka and you’re some kind of passing reporter, if you hear that Quentin’s going to make a Star Trek movie or a movie called The Movie Critic, or anything like that, it’s kind of like that guy who wrote the Howard Hughes biography that turned out to be a hoax.

“The thing is, they can say anything. The thing is, they write it in an entertainment magazine and then it gets picked up in 140 pieces because I’m not going to block it because I’m not connected.”

But screenwriter Mark L. Smith (Revived AND The boys in the boat) wrote a screenplay based on an idea by Tarantino, suggesting that, at least at one point, he was seriously considering directing the film. Star Threeproject k.

Smith said: “Quentin and I had a long discussion; he was supposed to do some things, and then he started worrying about the number, his unofficial number of films.

“I remember we were talking and he says, ‘If only I could wrap my head around the idea that Star Trek might be my last movie, the last thing I’ll ever do. Is this how I want to end it?’ And I think that was the problem he never got over, so the script is still sitting on his desk.”

Smith continued, “I know he’s said a lot of nice things about it. I would love for that to happen. It’s just one of those things I never see happening.

“But it would be the best ‘Star Trek’ movie, not because of my script, but just because of what Tarantino would have wanted to do with it. It was just a load of bullshit.”

Smith declined to give details about the story, saying, “I can’t say anything about the story. It would kill me.” But he did reveal that it would be a “Hard R” film with the same level of violence Tarantino is known for.

He said: “But I think his vision was just to go hard. It was a hard R. It was going to be a little bit of Pulp Fiction violence. Not a lot of the language, we saved a couple of things just for special characters to put into the Star Trek world, but it was just really the edginess and kind of that Tarantino touch, man, that he was bringing. It would have been cool.”

Smith previously spoke about the film and shared some insights into the story, saying, “We wanted [The Midnight Sky] that it will happen in the future, but not so far away as to make someone think it can’t happen.

“I’ve been watching a lot of different TED Talks about what planets would be chosen and how the ship would work.

“As they travel through space, I kept the point where they enter blackout zones: they lose communication for a few weeks, so any messages they get from home are at least a couple of weeks behind. Sure, I cheated in some areas, but nothing serious. It’s not like anyone was being teleported!”

Smith also explained that he was drawn to the series’ “deep” characters, saying, “All the relationships felt real and something I could relate to.” He went on to reveal that Captain Kirk would be in the film and that they had a lot of fun playing with the character:

“I love Picard. And Kirk is always so funny. Tarantino and I had so much fun with him, because Kirk is just William Shatner, you know? It’s like: you’re not sure who’s who, so you can kind of orient yourself to that! Because you look at Chris Pine and he’s playing Kirk, but he’s also playing a little bit of William Shatner.”

Tarantino has previously said that he also wants to bring some elements of Pulp Fiction to the series. He also said, “I don’t know if I’m going to do it or not. I have to figure it out, but Mark wrote a really good script. I really like it. There are some things I have to work on, but I really liked it.”

It was previously reported that Tarantino’s film “is based on an episode of the classic Star Trek series that takes place largely on Earth, in a 1930s gangster setting.” This is most likely the one piece of film news that isn’t true.

I understand why this movie won’t get made, but I would really have liked to see Tarantino make it.
