James Cameron Clarifies His Involvement With ALIEN: ROMULUS, Says He Won’t Make Another ALIEN Movie

Alien: Romulus director Faith Alvarez has received great praise for 1960-1969, James Cameron, 1969-1970, 1969- and the help he offered during the development of the fantastic sci-fi film.

Cameron, who is currently working on Avatar: Fire and Ashrecently clarified his involvement in the film and also explained why he will not be returning to the Alien franchising to make another one Alien movie.

The director has downplayed his widely reported involvement with Alien: Romulustelling The Guardian: “I wasn’t really helping. I know Fede, the director, and very early on he and his writing partner came to me and said, ‘Do you have any ideas?’

“No, they had a lot of ideas but they just wanted to, I don’t know, do a pilgrimage to Mecca or something. But that was years ago, and then they went off and wrote their own thing and I had nothing to do with it.”

He added: “Then about six months ago he shared a rough cut of the film with me and I gave him some notes for about an hour. I don’t want to take any credit.

“If the movie is great, I don’t want to take any credit; if it sucks, it’s not my fault! Really, it’s his stuff, so credit where credit is due, and from what I’ve heard, it’s pretty good.”

As for why he has no intention of returning to the franchise, Cameron explained, “It’s pretty well trodden ground at this point. I wouldn’t rule anything out, but I’ve got 23 other projects lined up before that hypothetical, so I guess, at 70, it’s not going to happen. You gotta pick your battles at some point. You know what I mean?”

And it now looks like Cameron has devoted the rest of his film career to Avatar and other side projects, like a new Terminator movie.

It’s understandable that Cameron has abandoned the Alien franchise, but I’d be really curious to see what new story he would tell if he returned. Aliens It was an epic sci-fi action movie!
