Last year we announced that the actress Millie Bobby Brown he had just published his book, written by a ghostwriter by Kathleen McGurltitled Nineteen steps.
The novel is a historical novel based on a true war mystery, inspired by Brown’s grandmother, Ruth, who passed away in 2020. Brown said at the time that he planned to turn the story into a film, but nothing had been decided at the time.
Now, Netflix has signed on to adapt the film with Brown, which is a natural fit considering the actress worked with Netflix on its hit series Stranger thingswhich launched his career, as well as the Sherlock Holmes spin-off Enola Holmes film and fantasy adventure Bridesmaid. Brown will produce Nineteen things through his company PCMA Productions and is in talks to star in the film adaptation.
The story of Nineteen steps “tells the story of 18-year-old Nellie Morris, who lives in the East London neighborhood of Bethnal Green and falls in love with an American airman named Ray. But her world is turned upside down after she survives the Bethnal Green tube disaster, in which 173 civilians who were seeking refuge during an air raid died.”
Bohemian Rhapsody AND The Darkest Hour screenwriter Anthony McCarten is adapting the screenplay for the screen.
Stay tuned for more news on the projects as they go into production.
