While we continue to wait for the second season of X-Men ’97executive producer Brad Winderbaum is sharing new details and teasing what fans can expect from the next chapter of the story.
According to Winderbaum, season two will include two new X-Teams. He said, “There are a lot of teams in Marvel that have the letter ‘X’ followed by a hyphen. I would put it this way… there are two more X-Teams in season two.”
It doesn’t reveal who these X-teams are, but some of these teams include X-Factor, X-Force, and Weapon X-Men. It would be cool to see any of these in the series!
Winderbaum also offered an update on the development process for season two, saying, “It’s still an animatic phase. Animation takes a long time to do, as I’m sure you know.
“There was a great bit about that in the second season of Invincible. They really nailed it, it’s the best. And it takes a long time. Because the studio wants to see how successful the first season is before they greenlight the second, there’s a delay.
“We were lucky enough to get the green light before we aired, so maybe there’s less of a delay. People will just have to be patient with us.”
The third season of X-Men ’97 is also currently in development and I imagine this series will have a long life as the creative team continues to churn out great stories.
