Jon Bernthal Says DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Will Make Fans ‘Enormously Happy’

Jon Bernthal has reprised his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in the upcoming Marvel film Daredevil: Reborn series and, during a recent interview, he talks about it and believes it will make fans very happy.

Speaking previously about the series, Marvel head Kevin Feige he said: “In Daredevil: RebornWe’ve channeled the essence of the original series, but we’ve charted a completely new path for Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk.”

The new Disney+ series also brings back Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and Bullseye (Wilson Bethel), and is described as more of a revival rather than a reboot of the Netflix version of Daredevil.

Bernthal spoke about the series with Marvel Entertainment after Marvel Studios’ presentation at D23:

“I think if you’re a fan of the show that you’ve seen before, you’ll be a fan of this. I think we’re just taking it a step further. We’re all here, we’re all enormously happy to be together, we’re proud of what we’ve done. If you’re a fan of [Marvel’s Daredevil]you will be enormously happy.”

After seeing the footage released at D23, fans seem pretty excited about the show and the direction the creative team intends to take it.

Head of Marvel’s Television, Streaming and Animated Division Brad Winderbaumhad already spoken about the series saying that it would give a completely new “political” slant to the bitter rivalry between Daredevil and Kingpin.

Winderbaum compared the show to X-Men ’97: “Daredevil is amazing. It’s similar in some ways to X-Men ’97 because it’s reviving something that fans love. But it’s taking it in a new direction.”

He went on to tease how things have changed, saying, “These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society has changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.

“And their characters are going to collide in ways they’ve never seen before. It’s not enough to just try to kill each other anymore. There’s a whole game of politics at play.”

The new series is said to be inspired by Kingdom of the devil plot, which explores the power dynamics between the Kingpin and the vigilantes who oppose him. The story revolves around the power struggle between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, who becomes mayor of New York City.

Daredevil: Reborn It is developed by the directors Justin Benson AND Aaron Mooreheadwho worked on both Knight of the Moon AND Loki.
