Cate Blanchett recently spoke about his time working on Peter Mazza’S The Lord of the Ringsand while the film trilogy grossed $2.9 billion worldwide, the film’s actors earned almost nothing.
While it appears on Watch what happens liveHost Andy Cohen asked Blanchett which film she received the highest salary for and he guessed it was The Lord of the Rings.
Blanchett replied: “Are you kidding? No, no one was paid to make that film.”
Cohen then asked her if she “got a piece of the backend,” to which Blanchett replied, “No! That was way before all of this. No, nothing.”
The actress continued: “I wanted to work with the guy who did Brain dead,” referring to Jackson and his 1992 zombie comedy film, which was released as Dead alive in the United States.
He then added: “I basically got free sandwiches and got to keep my [elf] ears.” He later said, “Women don’t get paid as much as you think.”
It’s pretty crazy that he earned almost nothing while filming The Lord of the RingsIt appears they were paid the bare minimum.
The entire trilogy of those epic fantasy films had a budget of $281 million, and you can see all that money on the screen. The fact that they pulled it off is an incredible feat.
Also, Cate Banchett was perfect as Galadriel and was amazing in the role!
