Apple TV+ is moving forward with development on a sequel to georgeclooney AND Brad Pittthe next action comedy film of WolvesIt was also announced that the film will be released theatrically before hitting the streaming service.
Jon Watts direct Wolvesand will return to write, direct and produce the sequel, which will see the return of Clooney and Pitt. Apple executives must be real fans of the first film!
Matt Dentler, head of feature films at Apple Original Films, said in a statement: “Wolves is the kind of big event film that makes Apple TV+ such a great home for the best in entertainment. Featuring the extraordinary and engaging chemistry between George and Brad under the extraordinary direction of Jon Watts, Wolves blends all the great elements of comedy, action and drama into a highly entertaining film that will leave audiences ready for what’s next.
“Releasing the film in theaters before making it widely available to Apple TV+ customers gives audiences the best of both worlds, and we can’t wait to see fans embrace the film with excitement as we begin working with Jon on the sequel.”
In the film, “Clooney plays a professional fixer hired to cover up a high-profile crime. But when a second fixer (Pitt) shows up and the two ‘lone wolves’ are forced to work together, they find their evening spiraling out of control in ways neither of them expected.”
Talking about the film, Clooney said it felt like an R-rated Ocean’s movie. He said, “Uh… It’s a really good movie. I love this guy, Jon Watts. What a director. He’s out there.
“We just had a screening of it and the place went crazy. So, we’re excited about it. We think it’s a really fun, dark, very dark, crazy movie… It feels like an R-rated Ocean’s movie.”
The film will open in limited theaters on September 20, before debuting globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 27.
