Fangoria Studios collaborates with legendary horror mangaka Junji Ito to produce three live-action feature film projects. These films include Bloodsucking Darkness, The Mystery of the Haunted House Part 1AND The Mystery of the Haunted House – Part 2.
In Junji Ito’s stories, “Bloodsucking Darkness” follows a girl with an eating disorder who vomits blood and is haunted by vampire bats, while The Mystery Of The Haunted House revolves around two friends who must escape a spooky house and its demented owner. The stories are from Smashed: Junji Ito Story Collection.”
All three vampire projects are expected to enter development this summer, with production slated for 2025 and 2026.
Ito will be producing together Armenian Aghaeian, Tara AnsleyAND Abhi Goel of the Fangoria studies, Yasu Kutami AND Tsubasa Yamaguchi by Amuse Group USA and Aditya Chand AND Jay Van Hoy by TTLE. Independent producer Carlos Aguirrewho brokered the deal, will serve as executive producer.
While we wait for the release of these live-action films, Adult Swim has a miniseries based on the supernatural horror manga on the way, titled Uzumaki.
Written and illustrated by Ito, the original manga series told the story of the citizens of Kurōzu-cho, a fictional town plagued by a supernatural curse involving spirals.
