Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for its third film in the Paddington franchising, Paddington in Peruand takes Paddington on an adventure to Peru, where he finds himself in “difficult situations” in his home country.
I loved the Paddington movies and this next installment in the series looks like it will tell an incredibly fun, adventurous and charming story.
In the film, “as he returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown family in tow, an exciting adventure begins when a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up into the mountains of Peru.”
The story for the next film was created by Paddington 1 and 2 collaborators Paul King, Simone FarnabyAND Burton scores with a screenplay by Burton, Jon FosterAND James Lamont.
Ben Whishaw returns to provide the voice of Paddington. The film will also feature a mix of returning and new cast. Some of the key talent from the first two films include Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julia Walters, Imelda Staunton AND Michael GamboneThere are also some new arrivals in the cast Antonio Banderas AND Olivia Colman.
The film will be directed by the director of music videos and commercials Dr. Dougal Wilsonwho will make his feature film directorial debut. Studiocanal will once again produce the film with Heyday, who also produced the first two films and the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films.
David Heyman AND Rosie Alison will produce with Rob Silva as co-producer. Executive producers include Paul King, Tim Wellspring, Jeffrey Clifford, Anna Marsh and Ron Halpern.
CEO of Studiocanal Anna Marsh and Executive Vice President of Global Manufacturing Ron Halpern previously said in a statement: “We have long been huge admirers of Dougal’s work, his stunning visual creativity, his storytelling, his heart, his emotion and his humor. We are so thrilled that Dougal will be directing the third Paddington film. We can’t wait to bring Paddington back to Peru for his next big screen adventure.”
The director of the first two Paddington movie, Paul Kingcommented: “After ten years working on the Paddington films, I feel incredibly protective of the little bear and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there to hold his paw as he embarks on his third big screen adventure.
“Dougal’s work is never less than stunning: funny, beautiful, heartfelt, imaginative and totally original. Aunt Lucy once asked us to ‘Please look after this bear’. I know Dougal will do this admirably.”
Producer David Heyman said: “After an extensive search, we are delighted that the brilliant Dougal Wilson will direct the third Paddington film.
“A much-lauded legend in the world of commercials, we have long admired Dougal’s virtuoso work and his gift for directing with heart, humour, surprise and vivid imaginative flair. He is a wonderfully inventive kindred spirit for Paddington’s latest adventure with the Browns and we are thrilled to be working with him.”
The film’s director said: “As a huge fan of the first two films, I am very excited (if not a little intimidated) to continue Paddington’s story. It’s a huge responsibility, but all my efforts will be focused on making a third film that pays tribute to the love so many people have for this very special little bear.”
The film is scheduled for release in theaters on January 17, 2025.
