HBO has released a short promotional spot showing our first look at the footage from by Stephen King imminent It prequel series, Welcome to DerryThis is a show I was really looking forward to watching and I can’t wait to see more material.
There isn’t a lot to see here, but it definitely conveys the creepy, unsettling tone you’d expect from a horror show like this! The trailer shows off some of the characters and features blood, balloons, and Pennwise’s laugh.
The official synopsis for the series states: “Set in the world of Stephen King It universe, Welcome to Derry It is based on King’s It new and expands the vision established by the director Andy Muschietti in feature films It AND Chapter Two.”
When previously speaking about the mythology of the story, Muschietti said, “There’s a whole mythology in the book though… Mythology is something that always has opportunities to be explored. [aka Pennywise] It has been present on Earth for millions of years.
“He’s been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material. It’s always exciting to think about exploring this mythology at some point. It’s very exciting. But, for now, there’s nothing on the table.”
Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise the Clown, and will be joined by Alessandra Fuchs (Hatfields and McCoys), Kimberly Guerrero (English), Dorian Gray (Transplant, Star Trek: Discovery), Thomas Mitchell (Gangland Undercover, Spiral), B.J. Harrison (Family law, domestic law), Peter External Bridge (Batwoman (Saw VI), Shane Marriott (Fargo, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent), Chad Tower (Joe Pickett, Billy the Kid), Joshua Odjick (Little Bird, Wildhood) AND Angeline Morning Star (Echo, Westworld).
Previously announced cast members include Paige Taylor, your guide (Zola, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Giovanna Adepo (Babylon, Guardians), Chris chalk (Perry Mason, All Dirt Roads Taste Like Salt), James Remar (Oppenheimer, Megalopolis), Madeleine Stowe (Army of the 12 Monkeys, The Last of the Mohicans, Revenge) AND Knight Stephen (Daredevil).
The series is developed by the director Andy Muschietti (It film) and showrunner Jason Fuchs (En: Chapter II) AND BradCalebKane (Vice President of Tokyo), who will also be executive producer of the series.
The series will be released in 2025.
