Jon M. Chu to Direct Britney Spears’ Memoir THE WOMAN IN ME for Universal

Director by Jon M. Chu (Now you see me 2, In the heights, Evil) has signed on to direct the adaptation of The woman in meat Universal. Based on the best-selling memoir by Britney SpearsThe story follows his rise to fame as a teenager, his career and conservatorship, and his life today, after gaining his freedom and telling his story.

Spears originally signed a $15 million publishing deal in 2022, one of the largest publishing deals of all time, which became one of the biggest best-selling books of the year, selling over 2.5 million copies in the U.S. in hardcover, ebook, and audiobook formats.

The audiobook was read by the Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams with an introduction by Britney Spears, it is the most successful album in Simon & Schuster history.

It was Spotify’s most-streamed audiobook of 2023. The book was an instant #1 New York Times bestseller in hardcover, ebook, and audio, and was Simon & Schuster’s bestselling hardcover nonfiction book of 2023. There are over 3 million copies in print worldwide. The woman in me was published by Gallery Books on October 24, 2023.

No casting news has been revealed, but it will be a highly anticipated project from Universal, who will be sure to keep fans updated.
