ALIEN: ROMULUS Director Says James Cameron ‘Spent So Much Time on It’

Director Faith Alvarez He previously revealed that he had worked with both Ridley Scott AND 1960-1969, James Cameron, 1969-1970, 1969-1971, 1969-1972, 1969-1973, 1969-1974, 1969-1975, 1969-1976, 1969-1977, 1969-1979 , 19 during the development of his next sci-fi horror film Alien: Romulus.

The director has previously explained that the film is a hybrid between Alien and Aliens and that the story is set in between those two films, so it makes sense that he wanted to capture the tone and sensibility of the original, earlier films.

During a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Alvarez talked about Cameron’s contribution to the project and how he dedicated a lot of time to its development.

The two directors became pen pals thanks to actor Stephen Lang, who starred in both of Álvarez’s films. Do not breath and Cameron’s The Avatar.

The director said: “I had met Cameron a few years earlier, because Stephen Lang, who was in Don’t Breathe, had shown him that film. Cameron had really liked the film and invited me to the set of Avatar 2. And we became pen pals.

“So when that happened, I texted him like, ‘Hey, I have a question about Aliens,’ and he was like, ‘Oh, let’s talk about that.’ And we had a two-hour video call just to talk first – the first hour probably talking about Aliens, his experience making Aliens and what he learned about how to make it better.

“He was amazing, incredible, he put so much time into it. Then he even watched the edit when it was done and gave us feedback. He was so supportive. I’m so privileged to have someone like Cameron who took his time and helped us make this film better.”

I’m sure Cameron’s involvement helped the director create a better film for the fans. We’ve been waiting for another great Alien movie, and it looks like Alvarez might just deliver.

Speaking previously about how he achieved his goals with this film and how he incorporated Scott and Cameron’s foundational knowledge of the franchise, he said: “Obviously Alien and Aliens are very different films, but with this story we found a way to make sure that you didn’t have to choose.

“There are incredible and intelligent things [accomplished] in those movies. You really want to push and create this world, so as a director, you don’t sit in your chair and just point to shit. I do the VFX myself. I’m puppeteering it. Every movie, I’m like, “Okay, this is the one where I finally sat down and just pointed to shit.” It doesn’t happen.

“The movies are getting bigger and I’m still on the floor getting my hands dirty. And that’s exactly what Ridley and Cameron told me: the only way to make this movie is to be involved on every level. These are movies that are handcrafted by their directors, that’s why they’re so unique.

“This is not a studio movie where you come in, do your thing, and there’s a machine that knows how to do it.”

Alien: Romulus follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves confronted by the most terrifying life form in the universe.”

The story is set aboard the “abandoned Weyland-Yutani research station, the Renaissance, and nearly two decades after the destruction of the Nostromo in Alien, Romulus finds a young crew of scavengers searching for a way out and a better future, only to find the perfect killing machine in its place.”

The movie stars Cailee Spaeny, Isabella Mercedwhich is also joined Archie Renaux (Shadow and bone), Spike Fear (After sun), and the new arrival Aileen Wu.

I’m ready for a great and scary sci-fi horror movie and it looks like the director Faith Alvarez will deliver it with Alien: Romulus.

Alvarez directs the film from a script he wrote himself. Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott he is also a producer of the film together with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler) for Scott Free, with Brent O’Connor (High speed train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) AND Tom Moran (The King of Donuts) as executive producers.

Alien: Romulus will be released in theaters on August 16, 2024.
