A sequel to the 1985 cult classic drama “Brat Pack” St. Elmo’s Fire is in early development, according to one of the film’s stars, Trash stuffIn a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lowe and his son, John Owen LoweThey talked about their Netflix comedy series Unstableand the actor talked about the possibility of a reboot St. Elmo’s Fire like a Sony movie.
“We’ve met with the studio and we’ve been talking about it for about four months,” Lowe said of a possible sequel. He said the release of the Brats documentary earlier this summer from fellow Brat Packer Andrea McCarthy has “just added excitement around it.” “But it’s very, very, very, very, very early,” he added. “So we’ll see.”
The original St. Elmo’s Fire followed seven recent college graduates navigating their new adult lives, and co-starred Demi Moore, Dr. NelsonMcCarthy, Emilio Estevez AND Ally SheedyThe deceased Joel Schumacher was the director and co-wrote the script with Charles Kurlander.
Rob Lowe, Moore, Estevez and Sheedy all appeared on camera for McCarthy’s recent documentary, in which McCarthy talks with his fellow actors about the origins of the term “Brat Pack” in a New York magazine article and the effect it had (or didn’t have) on their careers.
A St. Elmo’s Fire In 2019, a TV series was considered, with Josh Berman attached to write and executive produce, with Chris King executive producing, but the series never got off the ground.
I grew up watching this movie and a lot of other “Brat Pack” staples, so it has a lot of nostalgia for me. I would watch a remake, but I would be even more excited if this one happened and we got the original cast back! Would you be excited to see the original cast reunite for this sequel?
