STAR WARS: THE SKELETON CREW Creator Says Hover Bikes Were Key to Telling Story

More information is coming soon from Lucasfilm Star Wars: The Skeleton Crewas creators Jon Watts AND Christopher Ford They also state that including hover bikes was “integral to telling the story of a childhood adventure, not only for the tuning-in audience, but also for the child actors involved.”

Watts says of the bikes: “They had little bikes and they were on rails, and so they would slide back and forth, left and right. [so] they might turn and veer.”

Ford later recalls seeing “guys in all-green jumpsuits” helping in the background. Watts added, “It actually looks completely crazy and for the kids, the main directive was, ‘Stop smiling!’ because they were having so much fun.”

With the film previously compared to 80’s Amblin films such as AND AND The GooniesIt makes sense that bikes should be involved in the story. Only, in this case, they’re flying bikes.

It’s practically mandatory for kids to have a bike when they embark on a crazy adventure!

The series has been described as “a galactic take on the classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.” The story will follow four young boys on a small planet, who end up lost in the Star Wars galaxy and embark on a journey to find their way home.

The adventure they are on is said to be an intense and dark journey. In the story, four boys make “a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet and become lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies will be an adventure greater than they ever imagined.”
