Bruce Campbell previously there was talk of a evil Dead animated series that would have continued the adventures of Ash Williams after the events of Ash vs Evil Dead.
At the time, he said the project was something they were just talking about. It was something that could happen. But now, Campbell has confirmed that the project is in development. He also said he will provide the voice of the character Ash.
Campbell told Entertainment Weekly, “We’re developing an animated version, like a series. I’ll do that. I’ll be doing Ash’s voice all day because my voice hasn’t aged as much as I have.”
I like the idea of a evil Dead series, and I could see it being completely insane! They could really go beyond anything they’ve done with the live-action projects. I’m excited to see how it all turns out!
Campbell also teased the two films currently in development, saying, “The future is two more damn movies. We have two fabulous new directors who have two new scripts in the works, and we think we’ve convinced a studio to shell out money for both of them, because they still seem to be making money.”
He continued: “The funny thing is, the Evil Dead movies, the last one, made $140 million, and Evil Dead movies don’t usually make that much… They’re cheap, so they don’t have to make that much, but now that they’re making real money, it’s kind of hard to look away.
“And we want to do it — the last one was 10 years ago, Fede [Álvarez’s reboot] It was 2013! So we want to create a little bit more of a pipeline for people who are still following him, who want to see it. They want to see it in the new incarnation!”
The two evil Dead The films in development are directed by Francesco Galluppi (The last stop in Yuma County) AND Sebastian Vanicek and they are both produced by Campbell and Sam RaimiThere are no details about these films, but both directors hope to tell terrifying tales evil Dead stories.
Campbell once spoke about the future of franchising, saying, “We’ll probably do them more every two or three years, rather than every 10 years. But, hey, we’ve seen with Star Wars – you don’t want to wear people out. Keep them on their toes! We’ve never worn out our welcome with evil Dead because we never strangled them.”
He also said that Raimi and his brother were writing a evil Dead bible that other filmmakers can use, saying, “It’s also the first time Sam has worked with his brother Ivan to create an overarching bible that will give future writers and directors an idea of where this thing should go to potentially connect some of these stories.
“So I think it’ll become a little more connected as the years go by. But because it’s all about books. It could be a book from the past, a book from the future. It’s still to be determined.”
