Several new photos have been shared for Lucasfilm’s upcoming series Star Wars: Skeletal Crewwhich derives from Spiderman director of the trilogy Jon Watts.
The series has been described as “a galactic take on the classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.” The story will follow four young boys on a small planet, who end up lost in the Star Wars galaxy and embark on a journey to find their way home.
The film was pitched to Lucasfilm as “The Goonies In Star Wars,” and it was explained that, although the series features four children, “it is not a show for children.”
The official synopsis for the series reads: “When four teenagers make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, they become lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, encountering unlikely allies and enemies, will be an adventure bigger than they ever imagined.”
In an interview with People Magazine, series star Jude Law called the story the series tells “joyous” and teased fans that they will watch the kids “maneuver” into places they shouldn’t be, adding that “seeing kids in that environment in a Star Wars “The environment is exciting and truly unique.”
He added: “It’s a fun place to be, the universe of Star Warsand there are great references to old movies and recent episodes and series. There’s a lot of originality and I hope that this gives a sense of fun to those who watch it.”
Law went on to talk about his younger co-stars, saying that they are “all in a constant state of confusion and danger and challenge.” He explains that the series is “very much a piece about working together and overcoming fears and overcoming… maybe [one’s] opinion of oneself or one’s weaknesses in order to achieve success.”
Speaking about working with his younger co-stars, he said: “I had a great time making this with everyone involved. Those four in particular who worked closely with me were just so much fun and incredibly professional, and I’m immensely proud to be a part of their crew.”
Series creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford He added: “Because he’s always with the kids, he also felt in a way like a co-director, a co-producer with us and a co-acting coach, you know, giving advice to the kids, and they would turn to him.
“He really became a kind of mentor to the kids, too. And he didn’t have to do it, he just did it because he was nice and he would make things work great.”
The children in the series are played by Ravi Cabot Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy SmithAND Ryan Kiera ArmstrongThe episodes of the show will be directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, The Daniels, Davide Abbassa, Jake SchreierAND by Lee Isaac Chung. The MandalorianS Mr. Jon Favreau AND Dave Filoni will be executive producer.
