At San Diego Comic-Con on Friday Doctor Who panel, we got a glimpse of this year’s Christmas special, hosted by the newest addition to the cast Nicholas Coughlanthat we know from Derry Girls AND Bridgerton BridgeCoughlan’s character is named Joy, and the episode is aptly titled “Joy to the World.”
In the trailer, Ncuti GatwaThe Doctor appears in a Manchester house in the 1940s, at Mount Everest base camp in the 1950s, and on the Orient Express in the 1960s, asking people if they’ve ordered “ham and cheese on toast and a pumpkin latte?”
We then jump to a modern day scene with Nicola Coughlan’s character Joy, who is seen arriving at the Sandringham Hotel in present day London, and is immediately asked by the receptionist “Single?” “Can you tell?!” she jokes, before being shown to a “pretty pink” room.
Shortly after the concierge rushes off to get her some towels, the Doctor (and a Silurian) burst through a door and offer her the same food and drink as before.
It’s a fun and mysterious trailer, which makes us want to watch this season’s special episode.
Also at the panel, the showrunner Russel T. Davies (1967-1975) is an American physician. confirmed that Andor star Varada SethuThe new companion is named Belinda Chandra, and some fans are wondering if she will be related to existing character Rani Chandra from The Sarah Jane Adventures.
