Mark Hamill and Judy Greer Join Stephen King’s THE LONG WALK Film Adaptation

Mark Hamill AND My life is nice have joined the cast of Lionsgate’s film adaptation of The long walk. Francis Lorenzo (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents) directs the film from a screenplay written by J.T. Mollner.

The long walk is set in the future “where 100 teenage boys undertake an annual competition known as ‘The Long Walk.’ The rules are simple: maintain a speed greater than four miles per hour.

“You get three warnings in an hour and you get shot dead. The last one standing gets everything they want for the rest of their life. In these grim circumstances, the kids develop deep friendships even though they know that each of their friends’ survival is a threat to their own.”

There are no details on who Hamill and Greer will play, but the previously announced cast includes My Friend Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick AND Romano Griffin Davis.

Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green MileAND The mist) was also associated with the project at one point, but after losing the rights, James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) wrote a script, and New Line Cinema ended up picking it up. I believe this movie is still working off of that script.
