Colin Firth has joined Ritchie Boy’s imminent Young Sherlock series, which was created on Prime Video. Firth joins Hero Fiennes, Zine-Tseng, Joseph Fiennes AND Natascha McElhone.
The series is described as an “action-packed origin story of by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle beloved detective in an explosive reimagining of this iconic character.
“At 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered and unformed when he finds himself embroiled in a murder mystery at Oxford University that threatens his freedom.
“By plunging into his first case with a total lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to uncover a conspiracy that spans the globe and will change his life forever.”
Firth will play Sir Bucephalus Hodge. Fiennes and McElhone will play Sherlock’s parents; Tseng will play Princess Gulun Shou’an.
Ritchie previously said in a statement: “In Young Sherlock We’ll see an exciting new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before. We’ll unravel this enigmatic character, discover what makes him tick, and learn how he became the genius we all love.”

The series is also developed by the writer Matthew Parkhill (Deep State, rascal), who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. Ritchie will direct.
