Jurassic Park former student Jeff Goldblum he sent his ex Asteroid City co-star Scarlett Johansson a surprise on live TV this week, with a video officially welcoming her into the “Jurassic” family as she was interviewed on Today.
Johansson, protagonist of the next sequel Jurassic World 4was on NBC’s morning news to promote his romantic comedy Take me to the moon when a video Goldblum had personally recorded for her was broadcast.
Goldblum played the role of Dr. Ian Malcolm in Steven Spielberg’s original film Jurassic Park film in 1993 and reprised the character in three more sequels, including the 2022 one Jurassic World Domination.
Goldblum said in the video, “Dr. Johansson, this is Jeff Goldblum. Here’s what I want to tell you. This much I know: Scarlett will find a way,” he said, referencing the franchise’s iconic “life finds a way” line. “Don’t let me eat you unless you want to. I love you.” The video ended with Goldblum blowing a kiss to Johansson.
Goldblum is not expected to appear in the new Jurassic World film, which is directed by Rogue One AND Godzilla director by Gareth Edwards from a screenplay written by David KoeppThe screenwriter returns to the dinosaur franchise after writing Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997).
Johansson responded by saying, “Oh my god, I can’t believe Jeff said that to me. I think my life is complete now. I can retire.”
The new Jurassic World the film is a completely new story, separate from the first Jurassic World trilogy which had as protagonist Chris Pratt AND Bryce Dallas Howard. All three Jurassic World films have each grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Johansson stars in the new film alongside Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Friend Rupert, Moon Blaise AND David IaconoThe film is in production in Thailand.
