Only free directors Jimmy Chin AND Elizabeth Chai Vasarhely are ready to direct a film adaptation of Michael Crichton AND James PattersonThe novel of Eruption.
The film was billed as “a large-scale, Earth-threatening thriller about a volcanic explosion in Hawaii.” Crichton worked on the book for 20 years before his death.
The book’s description reads: “A history-making eruption is about to destroy the Big Island of Hawaii. But a decades-old secret kept by the U.S. military is far more terrifying than any volcano.”
There is no screenwriter attached to the project yet, but the production team is currently meeting with writing talent. There have also been preliminary meetings with several big stars who could star in a film.
The film is said to be “crafted in the style of Jurassic Parkalso filmed in Hawaii and based on Crichton’s novel.”
In addition, Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi may also direct a documentary on Crichton’s life.
The directing team had already made the film before Noahwhich was released on Netflix. That story followed Diana Nyad’s impossible swim from Cuba to Florida at the age of 60. The film starred Annette Bening AND Jodie Fosterboth nominated for an Oscar.
Eruption It looks like it’s going to be another big project for them. It’s going to be their biggest film to date.
