While many of the Marvel animated series are fun to watch, none of them have had a truly major impact on the events of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Well, it looks like this is going to change with the Black Panther animated series, Eyes of Wakandawhich is said to be the MCU’s most important animated series to date.
While guesting on the official Marvel podcast, the head of streaming, television and animation for Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum shared some information about the series.
Winderbaum said, “Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show we’re doing in animation, ties directly into the MCU. This is a story about the history of Wakanda… It’s both about the history of Wakanda, and it expands into the broader MCU in different time periods. So if you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat.”
The series follows former members of the Black Panthers and Dora Milaje as they search for vibranium artifacts throughout Wakanda’s history. Previously speaking about the series, Winderbaum said:
“We’re exploring so many amazing avenues on the animated side. Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show, fits perfectly into our sacred MCU timeline. [Black Panther director Ryan Coogler] he’s one of the producers, Todd Harris is one of our longtime storyboarders and he’s the director.
“It’s about the history and mythology of Wakanda, and it’s really cool. It looks cool. And it feels like, ‘OK, I’m taking an animated look at the MCU.'”
Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is producing the show and is managed by Todd Harrisformer Marvel storyboardist.
I’m curious to see how this project turns out.
