Brad WinderbaumMarvel Studios’ head of streaming, television, and Marvel animation, recently appeared on The Official Marvel Podcast to talk about all kinds of cool stuff Marvel is producing.
One of the many projects he talked about was Agatha for lifeand teased what fans can expect from the film, describing it as “really scary.”
Winderbaum explained: “Agatha is really funny but she’s also really scary and gets quite dramatic. She’s an incredible anti-heroine and that show is… it draws you in with the fun of Halloween and before you know it, you’re crying.”
When asked exactly how scary the show gets, he said, “It’s a Marvel brand of scary. It’s a Halloween show. There are death episodes in the series. It’s a fun ride but it’s dangerous.”
The stars of the series Author: Kathryn Hahnwho reprises her role as the titular witch, Agatha Harkness. In the series Agatha is joined by “a motley and diverse group of witches” and these witches include Patti LuPoneThe Lilia, Sasheer ZamataI’m Jennifer, Debra Jo RuppSharon, and Ali AhnaAlice is.
Agate is described as a “dark comedy.” When we last saw Agatha, she attempted to take Wanda Maximoff’s magic for herself, and Wanda trapped her in the persona of “Agnes.”
The description of the show’s first episode reads: “In the first episode we see Agatha Harkness (Author: Kathryn Hahn) finally break free from the spell she had been trapped in.”
Hahn previously spoke about returning to the character, saying, “I wish I could tell you something. I can tell you it’s pretty fan-fabulous, I’ll say that, I was going to say fantastic, but then I decided to go with fabulous.”
She added: “It’s an incredible cast. I’m in awe of everyone’s work on this show and I think people will be surprised. I don’t – I think they’ll think it’s one way and, of course, it’ll go a million different ways a bit like WandaVision.”
The series also features the participation of Aubrey Square like Rio Vidal, and Sasheer Zamata plays Jennifer Kale. Joe Locke also appears in the show but is only listed as “Teen”.
The series is expected to debut on Disney+ this September. Marvel will most likely show some footage from the series at Comic-Con later this month.
