Boom! Studios has announced that they are producing a graphic adaptation of English: Jim Henson’S Labyrinth and the novel by ACH Smith.
The graphic novel will be adapted by Demon in the Woods writer Kyla Vanderklugt AND Alice never after artist Giorgio Spaletta.
Vanderklugt said in a statement: “Labyrinth is a unique fantasy that holds a special place in the hearts of so many people. It was a privilege to adapt the film into graphic novel form, and Giorgio’s art is perfect for bringing the story to life in mesmerizing way.” . I can’t wait for readers to fall in love with the world and characters all over again, just like I did.”
Spalletta added: “Labyrinth is one of the films that most scared and fascinated me as a child. I am very happy to interpret that universe that has so influenced my imagination, exploring every corner of it.”
There have been a few Labyrinth comics made in the past. Marvel adapted the film in 1986 as a 68-page one-shot by writer Sid Jacobson and artist John Buscema.
BOOM! has also released several spin-off titles in the past such as Labyrinth: Coronationwho explored the past history of David Bowiethe goblin king Jareth.
Labyrinth is a great fantasy story and one of those movies I loved watching when I was a kid.
Jim Henson’s Labyrinth #1 will be released by BOOM! Studios on September 18th.
