Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige recently offered an update on The fantastic Four confirming that the film will indeed be set in the 1960s in an alternate reality and also announced when the film will begin filming.
During the official Marvel podcast, Feige clarified the film’s setting, saying: “Yes, yes, that’s right. It’s a period. There were a lot of smart people, who noticed that that cityscape didn’t exactly look like New York that we know of, or that existed in our world in the 1960s, those are intelligent observations, I would say.”
He added: “I am extremely excited because I think [the Fantastic Four] they’re pillars, they’re legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe that we’ve never gotten to play with or explore in a meaningful way outside of Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and some fun teases before, in the way that we’re doing in that movie. So I’m extremely excited about that.”
As for when the film will begin shooting, Feige said, “We’ll start shooting at the end of July. The day after Comic-Con [International: San Diego] It’s the first day of filming Fantastic Four.”
