According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Francesca Gardiner (Descendants, His Dark Materials and Killing Eve) will be the showrunner of the Harry Potter series.
Mark Mylod will direct several episodes. Note that they have previously worked with Francesca on the same projects and on some individual episodes of Game of Thrones.
“Alongside the characters that Harry Potter fans have loved for over 25 years, there will be a new cast to lead a new generation of fans,” HBO said.
JK Rowling will executive produce the project alongside Neil Blair (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and Ruth Canley-Letts (We Take Manhattan). It was previously reported that the series will be released in 2026.
