New teaser for LONGLEGS;  Director explains why Nicolas Cage’s “Monster” wasn’t revealed

NEON has shared a new teaser for the crazy-looking horror film Long legsand features some of the film’s most chilling footage.

With all the footage that has been shared, one aspect of the film that has been held back is the full reveal Nicolas Cagethe character of the serial killer. This is a smart marketing move that increases curiosity.

The director of the film, Osgood Perkinsexplains in an interview with Entertainment weeklybecause they are holding back from revealing.

He said, “It’s pushing people towards a freak show in a circus tent. We’ve got the thing behind the curtain, and when there are enough people gathered around, we’ll pull the curtain back.”

Cage added: “It’s the equivalent of putting a warning label on a jar of nitroglycerin. The monster is a highly, highly dangerous substance. How it is moved, revealed, unfolded has to be treated very carefully.

“Forget the explosion of cinema; the whole city could be blown up, indeed the country, perhaps even the world. It will change your reality. Your doors of perception will open and your life will never be the same.”

I love that hype! Cage looks like the guy standing in front of the circus tent who gets people excited and excited to see what’s behind the curtain!

Perkins goes on to admit that he considered revealing Cage’s “monster” before the film’s release: “Editing an image is an almost psychedelic experience. It really is because it’s so infinite.

“The permutations and combinations you can get by putting this there and that there, you’re in the Rubik’s Cube of possibilities. I think we’ve found the sweet spot. This boy lives just outside of our protagonist’s consciousness. He’s there, but he’s totally not there, but he’s totally there.”

This movie follows Maika MonroeLee Harker’s character, a gifted new FBI agent, is assigned to an unsolved serial killer case.

“As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the ruthless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”

Long legs it is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers” and early reviews have compared it to the classic 90s thriller The silence of the lambs.

The film will be released on July 12, 2024 and is said to be the “scariest film of the decade.”
