Disney+ plans to premiere on Thursday, September 8. Pinocchio, A live adaptation of Robert Zemeckis as Tom Hanks as Jepetto. Launch time is Disney+ Day, the premier D23 Expo in Anaheim. The streamer also released the first trailer below with Key Art.
Zemeckis directs the favorite fairy tale of the wooden doll who begins to turn him into a real boy in an exciting adventure. Hanks plays Jepetto, a lumberjack who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) like his own son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jimin Cricket, Pinocchio’s guide and “conscience”; Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo is a blue fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is “honest” Johnny; Academy Award nominee Lorraine Braco, new character Sofia Tolia, and Luke Evans are trainers. Also in the cast are Kiane Lamaia as Fabiana (and her puppet Sabina), Giuseppe Batiston as Mr. Stromball, and Levin Lloyd as Lampwick.
Zemeckis, along with Chris Weitz, wrote the screenplay for the adaptation, which Derek Hogg was produced by Andrew Miano. Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz. Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire and Jeremy Jones served as executive producers.
